A calm space to explore and offload

I'm April — I specialise in working with adults (18+) facing everyday life problems and those living with anxiety. I am here to really listen and help you work through whatever is challenging you.

Why counselling, why now

Starting therapy is a great first step in moving forward.

Are you feeling overwhelmed and tired? Perhaps you might feel stuck — with repeating thoughts, difficult relationships, overwhelming anxiety, or a grief that feels too heavy. Whatever the challenge, I am here to support you.

"The trick is to roll with the waves, find our way back up to the surface, be a bobbing cork, not a sinking brick."

— Cathy Rentzenbrink

How I can help

Two areas I know well — and sit with often

Anxiety

Maybe you are struggling with intrusive thoughts, have a constant knot in your stomach, or your anxiety has started to stop you from enjoying life. We'll explore these feelings and help you to understand more about anxiety.

Bereavement

Our sessions provide a space to grieve in your own way — whether the loss is recent or one you've been carrying quietly for a while — without being rushed toward "moving on." I also work with anticipatory grief, where the prospect of a future loss is too much to hold.

Other Themes

I also support adults facing many other challenges such as low self-esteem, communication barriers, loneliness, shame, and anger. To find out if I can support you, please get in touch.

About April

A little about how I work

My approach is firmly grounded in person-centred therapy, which simply means that I am a very good listener, who shows lots of empathy and no judgement. Sessions are led by what you need to talk about, not by a fixed script. I work in an integrative way, being curious about the paths that have led you here and helping you to understand your reactions.

I like to get to know you and your history, to find out what matters to you and what you would like to change. No two clients are the same so I stay curious, show lots of empathy and really listen to what you want to say.

Having had counselling myself, I know how helpful it can be to have a space each week to offload and explore. Even if you have friends and family to support you, it is sometimes easier to talk to someone unrelated — I will not judge you, and I won't try to 'fix' you.
